To all of my 5 Borough friends…it’s NYC Restaurant WEEKS. It runs through 2/10, from Astoria to Meatpacking to Williamsburg, and for $42 you get a 3-course dinner at some fabulous restaurants. In little ol’ DE we only get one week, and the restaurants are nothing compared to what we have at our fingertips here. So go get involved in your community and with your state and local governments this week, then reward yourself with a great meal.
I stumbled upon the info on Twitter through NYC Wine and Food Festival @NYCWFF , which linked to an excellent guide on NYCGo. Scoped out the BK locations and landed on Benchmark on 2nd St off 5th, formerly an icehouse for goods coming off the Gowanus Canal, it has now been transformed into a rustic oasis of a steakhouse, with an outdoor area that must be dope come spring and summer. Can’t wait to go back.
The menu was divine for Restaurant Week. So many good choices but I went with the Seared Scallops to start (my companion had the brisket and that was delightful as well), Filet Mignon for dinner (medium rare there is not for the faint of heart – this filet was sushi grade) and we split two luscious desserts – a cookie dough stuffed egg roll complimented by a chocolate moussey thing and ice cream with whole shelled pistachios mixed in for good measure. Our waiter was a doll and even appreciated my dessert creation.

I spanked those two together and it was Y-U-M.
