Yoga has been my go-to during this crisis to re-center my mind, heart and soul. It grounds me, gives me energy and renews my spirit, all while building strength, flexibility and improving my blood and oxygen flow. My man has even joined me and we embarked on the 30 Days of Yoga series from Yoga by Adriene, my absolute favorite YouTube channel. Adriene’s calm demeanor and the way she guides you through each practice brings so much peace to my day, no matter how chaotic the world around us may be.
She offers a yoga practice for just about everything you could need, so I highly recommend subscribing to her free channel. On the days that he works, I’m doing Pilates and lifting light weights to build muscle and core strength. My go-to for Pilates is old school Mari Winsor. 20 minutes is all you need, and who doesn’t have 20 minutes (especially these days)? My college roommate and I used to do this video (yes, an actual VHS with a VCR) every day for at least a semester, and had rock solid abs. It feels good to be focused on my health and fitness again. These are the things I would always allow to slip during everyday life, before the pandemic happened and we all went about our days as busy as we could possibly be. I continue to try and find the positive in each day, and this experience has reminded me how important it is to slow down and make the time for things that are good for mind, body and soul.
