Ahhh, Brunching in Brooklyn. Something I became very good at very quickly. Not too hard to find the best boozy brunch in Brooklyn, particularly Park Slope. A quick Google search and my new favorite website http://www.brokelyn.com gave me a list of 18 Brooklyn brunch spots with unlimited drink specials. Just what the doctor ordered http://brokelyn.com/drink-8-spots-unlimited-brunch-drink-specials/
I started off my tour with none other than Piquant http://piquantnyc.com, an adorable place with a very attractive waitstaff, located on Flatbush Ave by 6th and Bergen. You walk in and there is a small bar and upstairs area with tables, but downstairs there is also a great section of seating, with a window view of the bustling avenue. Their brunch menu is to die for and for $10 you get All You Can Drink Mimosas, Bloodys or Sangria for 1.5 hours! Now that is a deal NY. http://www.piquantnyc.com/weekend-brunch-menu/
I had the most amazing eggs benny called the Smoked Salmon Blackstone. Very thinly sliced smoked salmon layered with spinach and tomato, topped with two perfectly poached eggs. No hollandaise or English muffin needed. This dish was delightful and our adorable waiter even catered to my special request of pineapple in my mimosa instead of OJ. Luv ya boo, I’ll be back 😉
My first BK brunch was on Saturday and that Monday was MLK Day, so in the spirit of giving I met another new friend of mine for brunch at Bar Toto on 11th St and 6th Ave http://www.bartoto.com
Another delectable meal, this time a vegetable frittata with mushrooms, onions, tomatoes and fontina cheese, served with potatoes, a salad and a delightful piece of ciabatta bread. I went a different route and got a Bloody Mary, not my usual drink of choice but very happy I stepped outside of my drinking comfort zone because this drink rocked, and the bread helped soak up all of that vodka. Not too spicy, filled with tomato and tabasco goodness, with lots of goodies on top.
